No Heat Curls

This is a huge craze among the women of reddit.com. Here's the tutorial from MaryJanes & Galoshes. I tried out this method and here's my hair after taking it out.
I was excited. Curls don't typically stay well in my hair. Just thinking about it flashes me back to high school prom and 2 stylists trying to get curls to stay while cursing under their breath at my hair. Obviously it needed taming in order to make it pretty. I brushed it as the tutorial showed, and it frizzed the shit out on me! I will not be showing a photo of that. I think the reason for the fail was that I made the curls too tight, and didn't use the right kind of brush. At least, I hope so. I will be trying this again. All the photo's that were posted of women trying this gives me hope that I can have cool retro curls. Maybe it just takes a little practice.
If you try this, let me know how it went in the comments!

My Bad

Hi everyone!
Sorry I haven't posted in a while. Between nice weather and a terror for a two year old, I was having trouble getting some time to post. But I'm going to be making a better effort now!

Genius!

I love me a good cupcake. The problem? They don't transport well individually. I found a solution.
Cup-A-Cake is a cupcake holder that keeps your yummies in perfect condition. At $2.99 each, it's not a bad price either. They have lots of colors. There's a page to look for local retailers.

Skittles Vodka

I just have no words of how genius this is!
You can use each Skittles flavor and infuse vodka with each flavor. Add that to some Jell-O shots and I think I might be in heaven. See how at owned.lv.

Yarn Eggs

These are so bright and cheery. And my 2 year old can help make these (if she doesn't steal the balloons first).
See the how to on Disney Family Fun.

Paint Chip Garland

I foresee a trip to Home Depot in my near future!
It's so easy and cute. They almost look like the little plastic eggs with the line in the middle. See the step by step at Modern Parents Messy Kids.

Egg Decorating!

Crafts By Amanda has 7 cool ways to decorate eggs. Marbled Eggs, Speckled Eggs, Drip Eggs, Rubber Band Eggs, Colorful Chinese Tea Eggs, Stenciled Eggs, & Tie Dye Eggs. Here's a couple photos of her creations:
Gorgeous! I also found a great How To on Disney Family Fun on making leaf print eggs.
It's so easy to do! I wonder how well it'd work with feathers.

Geeky Family

I'm sure you've all seen those cutesy family vinyl car clings. They show each family member, usually attired with their profession or hobby. Cute, but not for me. If I'm going to have a set. I want them geeky. I found Kelly Kreations on Etsy. Her items fit the bill exactly!
And my favorite:
Add bows to the mushrooms and it's perfect!!!

Wallpaper Awesome

Need some desktop freshening up? I have 5 sites to get free fun and funky wallpapers.

Deviantart.com
Deviant Art is a plethora of creativity. The link is for a search of wallpapers. Under each piece is a subcatergory. So if you only want photo wallpapers or abstract, you can find what you want.

repeatxrepeaty.com
Cute, weird, and fun. These are 200x200 squares meant to be tiled for your wallpaper. Click on any of the pics, then click on the black and yellow arrows to open the tile for downloading.

They are exactly as their name implies. Lots of sleek, simple, clever desktops.

Totallysevere.com
Weird. That's the best word for most of these wallpapers. But cool too.
This one just became my desktop.  :)

Studio7designs.com
Beautiful nature wallpapers beyond typical beaches.

Pirate Ship Bedroom

These photos have been floating around the web recently, and they are just too cool not to share. Designer Steve Kuhl designed this ah-mazing pirate ship bedroom for a six-year-old in Minnesota. Lucky duck...
It even has a hidden room with a surprise!
Yeah, that's a giant slide.
A rope hangs down to a closet below if you'd rather not use the stairs to go up.
Like I said, that kid is a lucky duck.

Feed Critters, Entertain Kids

My oldest loves animals. We get a fair amount of squirrels and birds in our yard all year round. So why not make projects with kids to feed the animals in the winter?

Squirrels are easy. Buy some dried corn on the cob and twine. Tie one end on the corn, the other on the branch of a tree. If you want to fancy it up, add a cute ribbon bow to the top.

Birds have a few more options. Birds around in the winter typically eat seeds. If you have a pine tree near by or some pine cones laying around, you can go with the traditional peanut butter spread on, and rolled in seeds. Then hang and enjoy. Another idea is to use oranges!

Take a clementine or an orange. Slice it. Use yarn and a large needle to tie the orange slices together.  Thread the yarn through each slice a few times to ensure it is sturdy and hang from a tree. A little pop of color in an otherwise dreary, snowy yard.
